The second phase of Scaling-up Student Support Technician Clubs (SSTCs) is part of the USAID funded Primary Education Project managed by the Academy for Educational Development. PEP is aimed at improving the quality of instruction and increasing employment skills in youth. As part of this process, two teachers from each of 166 schools participated in a professional development program where they learned how to organize, establish and manage a SSTC at their school. |

Overall goal of the project was to increase the participation of the rural women in rural development and include women from rural communities in the decision making process. Project aimed to establish a baseline against which to design future activities, and prepare an action plan for NEA women’s group: activities to promote the gender concept within NEA and activities to promote the gender concept with rural women. |

The objective of the background study was drawn up under this assignment was to contribute with analysis and policy recommendations to the overall study on “Barriers to labour market participation in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia”. The National Coordinator took part in the preparatory workshop in ETF; The National Coordinator was responsible for producing national background document in a form of ‘self-study’ document on the topic “Involvement of social partners in education and training in tourism and construction”. She drafted the self-study in close cooperation with the national peer learning team. This document provided a short overview of the major developments in the country. It included a problem analysis, a stakeholder analysis and identified objectives and implementation issues. The National Coordinator together with the national peer learning team was responsible for collecting a set of country background materials that can help to clarify the issue/ topic of peer learning exercise in the host country. The National Coordinator, together with the national peer learning team, was responsible for drafting the programme and arranging the meetings in the host country Peer learning visit. The programme focused on issues related to the peer learning topic for 2008 and included visits to a wide group of relevant stakeholders. The programme was agreed with ETF. A visiting peers team must be able to build on the ‘self-study’ document. Therefore, it was expected that all members of the National team (including the National coordinator) would present during the preparatory workshop in the host country in detail the issues elaborated in the “self-study” document. NEA Advisors was to establish a framework for a women’s core group within NEA and support the preparation and agreement of an action plan. This was undertaken through the sensitisation of a group of NEA advisors, their training in specific areas associated with women’s needs and their instruction in the planning of women’s activities within the overall NEA operational plan. Additionally, number of pilot activities with women’s group were planned to take place through the women advisors in NEA. These were documented and the lessons learnt were prepared as a case study. |
