NEA Advisors was to establish a framework for a women’s core group within NEA and support the preparation and agreement of an action plan. This was undertaken through the sensitisation of a group of NEA advisors, their training in specific areas associated with women’s needs and their instruction in the planning of women’s activities within the overall NEA operational plan. Additionally, number of pilot activities with women’s group were planned to take place through the women advisors in NEA. These were documented and the lessons learnt were prepared as a case study.

Presentation of the assessment activities and discussion of the results; Run a workshop with all interested women advisors in order to discuss the need, possible activities and establish the women’s group within the agency; Propose a structure within NEA to support the gender initiatives and work with MAASP for its adoption by NEA management.
2. Work with NEA headquarters staff to outline activities for gender mainstreaming within NEA; Prepare a strategy for outreach and work with rural women and incorporate in NEA HR manual ; Develop recommendations for future gender related activities; and Prepare an action plan of activities and present these to NEA management .
3. Facilitate pilot activities of NEA advisors with rural women to establish a system that includes rural women in all steps of the activities and adjust the planned activities according to their input and expressed needs; Define the areas where NEA advisors have skills to offer to rural women; Identify methodologies to ensure that there are adequate records of involvement of rural women in activities described in action plans.
4. Facilitate pilot activities by NEA women’s core group to support organisation of 3 workshops with rural women by women advisors; Plan weekly / monthly events with rural women in duration of 6 weeks; report on the implemented activities/initiatives and replicate the successful events in as many communities as possible; Seek partnering rural women’s NGOs for outreach activities; Seek donors for planned activities. | |
